Most resumes never reach human eyes. Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) filter them first.
ATS survival rules:
- Use standard section headings: "Experience," "Education," "Skills"
- Include keywords from the job description
- Avoid tables, columns, graphics, and headers/footers
- Use .docx for ATS submission (PDF for human readers)
- List technologies explicitly: "React, Node.js, PostgreSQL"
Your resume isn't a design showcase. It's a keyword-matching exercise.
Career Changer Tip: Run your resume through a free ATS checker before applying.
