"Tell me about an incident you handled."
Use STAR format:
- Situation: What was the incident? What was the impact?
- Task: What was your role? What were you responsible for?
- Action: What did you do? Be specific about your contributions
- Result: How did it resolve? What did you learn?
Good incident stories include:
- Clear impact (users affected, revenue impact)
- Your specific actions (not just "the team")
- Technical details showing your skills
- Lessons learned and improvements made
Prepare - incident stories covering different types: outages, performance issues, security incidents, near-misses.
