The DHCP server receives the Discover and checks its available address pool. It picks an unused IP and sends an Offer.
The Offer includes:
- An available IP address for the client
- The subnet mask
- The lease duration
- The server's own IP address
The server broadcasts this Offer because the client still has no IP. The client identifies its Offer by matching the MAC address in the message.
