Access ports belong to one VLAN. They connect end devices like computers and printers. Trunk ports carry multiple VLANs. They connect switches together or switches to routers. Trunk ports tag frames with VLAN IDs using Q. Access ports strip tags before delivering to devices. I'll cover VLANs in depth in a later section. For now, know that port mode affects how frames are handled.
