The payload carries your actual data. It ranges from to bytes in standard Ethernet. If your data is smaller than bytes, padding bytes are added. The receiving device uses the upper-layer protocol to determine where real data ends and padding begins. Jumbo frames allow payloads up to bytes but require all devices in the path to support them.
