Each switch port is a physical interface. Ports have speed settings: // Mbps or Gbps. They have duplex settings: half or full. Most modern ports auto-negotiate both. Ports can be administratively enabled or disabled. You'll disable unused ports for security. Port naming varies: Fa0/1 for Fast Ethernet, Gi0/1 for Gigabit, Te0/1 for Ten Gigabit.
