An edge port connects to end devices like PCs, not to switches. You can configure a port as an edge port, and it will transition to forwarding immediately on link-up. No -second delay. This is equivalent to the PortFast feature in Cisco IOS. If an edge port ever receives a BPDU, it loses its edge status and participates in normal STP. Edge ports should only connect to hosts. If you enable edge on a port connected to another switch, you risk creating a temporary loop.
