When connectivity fails, check VLAN membership first. Is the port in the correct VLAN? Does the VLAN exist on all switches in the path? Are trunks allowing that VLAN? Check for native VLAN mismatches. Verify the device has an IP in the correct subnet. Check the default gateway. Use show commands to verify VLAN database, port assignments, and trunk status. Most VLAN issues are configuration mistakes.
