A VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network) is a logical grouping of switch ports. Devices in the same VLAN communicate as if connected to the same physical switch, even when spread across multiple switches. Devices in different VLANs cannot communicate directly. They need a Layer device to route between them. Think of VLANs as invisible walls inside your switch that separate traffic.
