Each access point radio creates a Basic Service Set (BSS). The BSSID is the MAC address of that radio interface. Multiple access points can share the same SSID while having unique BSSIDs. This allows clients to roam between access points on the same network. An Extended Service Set (ESS) combines multiple BSSs under one SSID. When troubleshooting, you identify specific access points by their BSSID even when they broadcast identical SSIDs.
