The GHz band was the original Wi-Fi frequency. It offers excellent range and wall penetration, making it ideal for covering large areas. The downside is severe congestion. Microwaves, Bluetooth devices, baby monitors, and cordless phones all operate at GHz. This band only has non-overlapping channels in most countries (, , and ). When you deploy multiple access points nearby, you will run out of clean channels quickly.
