Boris Cherny, who built Claude Code, posted about something he hadn't expected from his users: vacation research, wedding photo recovery, plant growth monitoring, and oven control. Anthropic launched Cowork in January 2026 because those use cases turned out to be widespread, not unusual.
Claude Code works on any task that involves reading files, running tools, and producing output. You describe what you want. Claude reads your filesystem, runs whatever tools are available, and writes the result. I use it for writing and file organization as often as I use it for code.
