Inequalities

Greater than and less than

Inequalities compare expressions using <<, >>, \leq, or \geq. For example, x+3>7x + 3 > 7 means xx plus 33 is greater than 77.

You solve inequalities like equations: isolate the variable. Subtract 33 from both sides to get x>4x > 4. The solution is all values greater than 44.

Watch out: if you multiply or divide by a negative number, flip the inequality sign. For 2x<6-2x < 6, divide by 2-2 and flip to get x>3x > -3.
