Inequalities

Inequalities compare expressions using $<$, $>$, $\leq$, or $\geq$. For example, $x + 3 > 7$ means $x$ plus $3$ is greater than $7$.

You solve inequalities like equations: isolate the variable. Subtract $3$ from both sides to get $x > 4$. The solution is all values greater than $4$.

Watch out: if you multiply or divide by a negative number, flip the inequality sign. For $-2x < 6$, divide by $-2$ and flip to get $x > -3$.
