These 2 files handle presentation and user context. Let me walk you through both.
IDENTITY.md controls how the assistant appears: its display name, emoji avatar, and default greeting. Here's an example:
# Identity
- Name: Kai
- Emoji: 🤖
- Greeting: "Hey! What are you working on?"
USER.md gives the model background about you: your timezone, preferred language, projects you're working on, and any preferences. The more context you provide, the less you'll need to repeat yourself in conversations.
Both files live in ~/.openclaw/ and are loaded alongside SOUL.md at the start of each conversation. Try filling them out now.
