LCS is the foundation of string DP. Git diff, DNA sequence alignment, and spell checkers all use this approach. Google, Amazon, and Netflix ask it. Understanding LCS makes Edit Distance straightforward (add insert, delete, replace operations). The -D table pattern applies whenever you compare two sequences.
