Tracing the algorithm

Let me trace pow(2,10)pow(2, 10):

1.1. pow(2,10)pow(2, 10): nn is even, compute pow(2,5)pow(2, 5)

2.2. pow(2,5)pow(2, 5): nn is odd, compute 2×pow(2,4)2 \times pow(2, 4)

3.3. pow(2,4)pow(2, 4): nn is even, compute pow(2,2)pow(2, 2)

4.4. pow(2,2)pow(2, 2): nn is even, compute pow(2,1)pow(2, 1)

5.5. pow(2,1)pow(2, 1): nn is odd, compute 2×pow(2,0)=2×1=22 \times pow(2, 0) = 2 \times 1 = 2
