Ownership means thinking beyond your team's scope. Interviewers ask: "Tell me about a time you took on something outside your responsibility."
Strong answer: a production outage on a Friday night for a service your team didn't own. You jumped in, debugged it, and coordinated the fix because nobody else was available. Weak answer: completing your assigned tasks well.
The difference is initiative versus task completion. Amazon wants people who act like the company is theirs.
